Welcome to The CBT'ers Club!

Welcome to The CBT'ers Club website and thanks for dropping by! The CBT'ers Club was founded in winter 2013 and is a social and professional membership Club offering formal and informal networking; CPD events, workshops, and groups; support; clinical supervision; room hire, skills and knowledge sharing and learning and much more. The Club is based in Glasgow city centre and we welcome anyone from any area to join us.

The Club welcomes qualified and trainee psychotherapists, counsellors, coaches, psychologists, other mental health practitioners and anyone else with an interest in CBT/using CBT in their clinical practice with clients.  Members hail from various professions and a range of therapeutic modalities. Members are from all over Scotland and you are welcome to join us! The CBT'ers Club is a branch of citizen17: an umbrella practice that also encompasses a number of other private practices.

Being a psychotherapist, counsellor, coach, psychologist or practitioner - especially when in private or independent practice - can often be a lonely and isolating place. You don't see other practitioners often, you might not have anyone to discuss ideas or experiences with (except in supervision) and you might wish to connect or network and discuss work-related ideas, experiences and information with other people. It can be isolating working in private or independent practice, can't it?

Well, it doesn't have to be like that. Following on from our own experiences as CBT psychotherapists and psychology practitioners, The CBT’ers Club was set up in late 2013, initially as a peer support and mentoring group. We all know what it's like to feel isolated and distanced from other practitioners.

Since setting up, we have discovered that meeting up, networking and interacting with others with an interest in CBT, counselling, psychotherapy, psychology and mental health has been invaluable. It has not only helped our own practice with clients, but has really helped decrease the feeling of isolation and loneliness that often comes with being a practitioner. This is something that all of our Registered Members have reported on since becoming Members. Members really value their Membership with The CBT’ers Club.

Our meetings, events and gatherings so far have been very successful. We not only get to discuss the 'serious' matters of work, CBT practice, client work, CPD etc: we also make new friends, share ideas and experiences, interact with other people, decrease isolation and, best of all, have a laugh and some fun at meetings and gatherings too! That's really important!

The CBT’ers Club is an encouraging, friendly and supportive Club, run for therapists, by therapists. We focus on creating a Club where you can be yourself; share your skills; meet and network with other like-minded practitioners; and learn and develop, while being part of a growing community of inspiring mental health professionals.

What makes The CBT’ers Club unique? Well, we are focussed on the following tasks and values: networking; sharing; learning; developing; inspiring; and encouraging. We offer Members a safe, friendly space in which to experience all of these tasks and values, and more. We wish to bridge the gap between feeling supported and feeling isolated.

So, did you like what you have read so far? Yes? Great! Why not join us today and become a Registered Member of The CBT’ers Club? What have you got to lose except that feeling of isolation or not having the opportunity to connect and share with fellow practitioners? Nothing? Well, join us today and become part of our growing community.

I (and all other Members) look forward to meeting with you at an event, workshop or meeting soon.

Best wishes,

Alexandra O'Brien
